I’ve heard all about the benefits of the Dead Sea for various health issues including skin issues like acne, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, etc, so while i was browsing at Cleopatra’s Choice, I decided to go ahead and buy this mud mask (was not sent product) which contains pure Dead Sea mud as well as other ingredients and see whether there is anything special about this mud. With that in mind, here is my Adovia Purifying Mud Mask review (with pure Dead Sea mud, aloe vera and vitamin C).
The Dead Sea
The Dead Sea (which is also less commonly known as the Salt Sea) is located between Jordan to the East and Israel and the West Bank to the west. This salt lake is one of the most unique spots on the face of the earth and is a popular tourist spot for climatotherapy.
The many healing properties of the Dead Sea have been known and used for centuries and it is believed that Cleopatra dipped herself in the Dead Sea as part of her beauty regimen. It is in fact the world’s first health resort and for the past few decades, thousands of people have flocked to this area which has made it a thriving health resort. Many of the visitors visit this area for the treatment of various diseases and conditions. The sea as well as the mud found in this area contain many healing minerals so even if you can’t travel to this area, many companies including Adovia export various products obtained from this region such as the Dead Sea salts and mud all over the world.
ADOVIA’s unique Purifying Mud Mask is formulated with Dead Sea Black Mud, Beeswax and a deeply moisturizing combination of Jojoba Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Olive Oil. This natural mask boosts cells renewal and revitalizes your skin, while tightening your pores. As the mask dries, it gently pulls out toxins and impurities known to clog pores and cause visible signs of aging. The presence of Dead Sea mud infuses your skin with needed minerals while firming it and improving elasticity. Aloe Vera and Chamomile extracts soothe and calm your skin while vitamins A and C leave it looking fresh and renewed.
It really is a great ingredient list aside from the Dead Sea mud many of which have various skin beneficial properties.
This Adovia Purifying Mud Mask (made in Israel) seems to be targeted to those with acne prone skin as well as other skin issues. While there are extensive instructions on how to use it which you can read more about here, I simply cleansed my face, applied a layer of the mud mask and waited for it to dry which took about 20 to 30 minutes before washing it off.
It definitely does smell like mud and when applying it, it does feel a little grainy but it is not very abrasive even on my sensitive skin. The tube contains 150ml (5.1 fl. oz). Although I use it whenever the mood strikes me, I like to use it mainly when I am dealing with breakouts or when my skin just doesn’t feel “right”. It is also recommended for acne spot treatment.
- When I am dealing with breakouts or my skin is acting up, this mask has a wonderful way of calming my skin and helping my breakouts go away which is why I always turn to it when I am dealing with breakouts.
- It does a great job of unclogging pores including blackheads.
- Skin feels nice and smooth after washing it off and the effects seem to last a few days unlike my other masks.
- This Adovia Purifying Mud Mask is so messy to rinse off so be careful when washing it off but even then, it will cause a mess in your shower/tub.
- Although it does unclog pores, I wish it did more as far as shrinking my large pores. My pore size more or less remains the same after using this mask which is disappointing.
I only have one more use left with this Adovia Dead Sea Mud Mask but I will definitely repurchase. It does help my acne-prone skin calm down and makes my skin look better so it is beneficial for me.
