I don’t know about you but 2015 for all about matte lips so much that I was itching to try something new in 2016 and in particular glossy lips. Lip gloss was all I wore mainly in college and part of my twenties but somewhere along the way I stopped. Clear gloss was in particular was what I loved because I could never find a gloss with color that I liked. But thanks to the Black Opal Color Splurge Patent Lips, I have rediscovered my love for lip gloss and not just clear lip gloss.
I have many Black Opal products but never ventured into any of their lip products until there was a recent sale online on some of their lip products and decided to get a few lip glosses. I initially got Uptown Brown, Violicious and Violine but as soon as I got them, I knew I needed a red and so I went out to Wal-Mart and bought Dynamo. If I have a favorite lip product, I always must have it in purple, brown and red. Every other color is just extra.
Although I love Dynamo, I also plan to get another red which is Red Intensity which is a darker red as soon as I can find it in stores or order it online. Dynamo was the only red that I found in store. There are additional colors though besides these. There are fourteen shades available at the Black Opal website but you may not be able to find all the shades at Wal-Mart, CVS, etc.
Before i got these Black Opal Color Splurge Patent Lips, I had tried a few other lip glosses and they either applied too sheer, didn’t last long, bled or were not moisturizing enough. But as soon as I tried these Black Opal lip glosses I knew that they were my product of the month immediately!
Luxe creamy color with a shiny patent finish makes this gloss the ultimate splurge for lips. Highly pigmented and ultra-shiny, this weightless color smoothly glides onto lips without drying or feeling sticky. Moisturizers and conditioners treat lips with nourishing actives to soften and soothe and vitamins A, C & E provide anti-oxidant protection. Soft fruity fragrance. Paraben-free. Dermatologist approved.
There’s not much of a smell to these lip glosses. It is very faint that I barely notice it.
The Black Opal Color Splurge Patent Lips have a doe foot applicator that is perfectly shaped to apply the gloss perfectly on the lips.
Sheer or opaque
What I really loved about these lip glosses was how rich the color was and how opaque it applied from the first application. No sheer gloss here.
I haven’t realized how I have missed lips that feel moisturized until I wore these Black Opal Color Splurge Patent Lips lip glosses. Matte lipsticks which I mostly wore are notorious for leaving your lips very dry. Some glosses that I tried also left my lips feeling dry.
Not these lip glosses. I was amazed at how moisturized my lips felt and they stayed moisturized for the entire time that I wore these lip glosses.
These start to fade after about 2 or 3 hours and need to be reapplied. You also need to reapply if you eat or drink. But if I kept my eating or drinking to a minimum, these lasted me 6 hours or more without needing to reapply.
While I loved the intensity of the color when first applied, I didn’t mind it as the color started to fade after a few hours and in many cases did not reapply as the less intense color also looked good.
The color is so rich and unlike many other glosses I’ve tried, these glosses do not bleed so you don’t even need a lip liner although I am attached to lip liner and usually add a lip liner but you really don’t need a lip liner with these glosses.
With many lip products, I usually start to develop a rash on my lips. I think there is an ingredient that I am allergic to that I have yet to identify. But thankfully these Black Opal lip glosses did not cause any reaction on my lips after wearing them for a few days which is usually how long it takes.
Buy this lip gloss at Black Opal for $6.95 as well as other stores on and offline.
I absolutely love the Black Opal Color Splurge Patent Lips and highly recommend them. They apply opaque, do not bleed and are very moisturizing with the added bonus of being inexpensive.
