I have so many lipsticks which I probably will not use up in a lifetime so I was not really in a lipstick buying mode when I was browsing the BH Cosmetics site during a recent sale. That was when I spotted the matte lipsticks. I am a sucker for matte lipsticks and most of them end up disappointing me but at $5 on sale, I could not pass these up and there was a PURPLE in the mix so obviously I had to get a few. So here goes my BH Cosmetics Color Lock Long Lasting Matte Lipstick review.
What I Got
There are twelve matte lipstick shades and I picked 3 that I thought would be complementary to my skin. There may be a few others that could work but it is so hard to tell which shades would be good by looking online. Since they were on sale for $5 and being a sucker for matte lipsticks, I had to get more than one.
I off course got the purple shade – Passionate and two other shades Rapture which looked like another great shade and although I am not really looking for anymore red lipsticks I decided to go ahead and get Dark Rose.
The packaging is pretty.
These lipsticks are amazing! They go on creamy and within a few seconds they start to a dry to a matte finish. And unlike many other matte lipsticks they actually stay put all day with eating and drinking included. Sure a little bit will come off when you eat and drink but the majority of the lipstick remains. I was pretty impressed by the longevity as I did not have to touch up at all between the time I applied the lipstick and when I removed it several hours later.
And unlike some of my Mac matte lipsticks (here’s looking at you Ruby Woo), my lips did not feel dry. I don’t know what they put in this lipstick but they are simply amazing. I am so impressed I may have to get a few more. I would like to get a nude lipstick that would be suitable for my complexion so I will have to figure out which shade(s) of the 12 BH Cosmetics Color Lock Long Lasting Matte lipsticks would be nude on me.
(The following lip swatches are without lip liner although I would normally wear them with lip liner!)
Also, I thought that the purple – Passionate – would be my favorite since I am such a purple lipstick lover, followed by Rapture but it is actually Dark Rose which has pulled out in front although I still like the others. Despite it being very drying, Ruby Woo has been my favorite red lipstick followed by its dupe Stoplight Red from Wet n Wild but I think Dark Rose is going to take the number one position.
This lipstick is also easy to remove. Tissue won’t do it though. I simply used one of my makeup wipes and the lipstick came off easily.
- Very pigmented
- Long wearing
- Easy to remove
- Truly matte but,
- Lips remain soft
- Easy to apply and applies so smoothly and richly
- Will settle into any lines on the lips but applying a lip primer first may help
I highly recommend these BH Cosmetics Color Lock Long Lasting Matte lipsticks and anyone who loves matte lipsticks needs to get them especially now that they are currently on sale for $5 (regular price $8.95 which is still reasonable).
Overall rating – 9.5/10
