The Natasha Denona brand recently launched at Sephora. This brand is probably most known for their infamous $239 eyeshadow palette. I don’t know if I would pay that much for an eyeshadow palette but I was curious about other items in this line including the Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder.
This highlighter caught my eye because it is available in light, medium and dark which is a little unusual since dark skin tones are usually an afterthought (if thought of at all) by many makeup brands. Highlighters specifically designed for dark skin are usually hard to come by so I was definitely eager to test out this highlighter.
Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder Review
It comes in reflective gold tin packaging with a mirror on the inside.
Specially formulated for a long lasting finish, All Over Face & Body Shimmer in Powder glides across the skin for a gentle and natural-looking radiance. Perfect for creating a Hollywood glow, it’s easy to apply, light and comfortable, and long-lasting to ensure that skin is left with a gentle shimmer and glowing finish for hours.
This Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder looks really pretty when swatched as you can see above and I love how close to my skin tone it was. Though I appreciate that there is a dark version of this highlighter, I didn’t care too much for it because when applied to my skin, it looked slightly ashy.
It does not contain any glitter and seems designed to give a subtle “glow from within” effect but because it looked slightly ashy on my skin, it did not look like it came from within. The highlighted areas stood out against my skin.
As far as the actual highlight, I was not very impressed. I’m more of a subtle highlight type of person and have no desire to shine bright like a diamond but I felt that this Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder was just too subtle which meant that I had to dip my brush in the highlight several times to get the highlight that I wanted which almost never happens when I use any of my highlighters. With my other highlighters, I usually dip my brush into the product very lightly once or twice but with this, I had to go in over and over.
It does give a nice sheen once you get the amount you need but it’s nothing special. In addition, if you have textured skin like me, this highlighter will highlight the texture in your skin which no one likes.
There is also a scent to this highlight for all those who are sensitive to fragrance. I personally don’t hate the scent.
I love that this Natasha Denona All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder came in a shade for dark skin but that’s all I like about this highlighter. It does give a nice sheen but it comes off ashy on my dark skin and I didn’t like that I had to keep dipping my brush in the product many times to get the coverage I wanted.
Even if it didn’t come off ashy, I probably would not recommend this highlighter because I didn’t think there was anything special about this highlighter to warrant the $38 price tag. My new favorite $7 Makeup Revolution Vivid Shimmer Brick In Rose Gold blows this out of the park and looks amazing on my dark skin.
It’s not terrible though and may even work as a bronzer for those with lighter skin. I was just not wowed by it at all.
