Mama I made it! After what seemed like ages being on the Play! By Sephora monthly subscription service wait list, I finally got the email invite to signup last month. It’s probably because they are now moving toward a wider reach and not just concentrated in certain markets.
Anyway, the May 2016 Play! By Sephora was my first and with that, this is what I received in this box.
May 2016 Play! By Sephora Contents
This came with six samples/deluxe samples. It also came with instructions on how the get the best from the products as well as a card to take into a store to receive expert advice as well as 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.
The samples received were;
1. Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
This was 1 oz/29ml and since I’m heavy handed with conditioner, this was only enough for one use. It was only okay and nothing special.
2. Origins Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer
This is a new product which I was eager to try. A mask primer sounded interesting but after one use, I don’t see the point of it. I also received one usage sample packets of the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask and Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.
3. Korres Night Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial
This is a deluxe sample which contains 0.34 fl. oz. / 10 ml. I’m not too enthusiastic about trying this since it contains vitamin C and I’m starting to think that my skin hates vitamin C. I may try it once to twice and see how my skin responds. Fragrance is also high on the ingredient list which means that it has a strong fragrance so we’ll see.
4. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Kimchi
This is a deluxe size (0.05oz / 1.55g). I like the matte packaging and the lipstick formula is great but I’m not a fan of this hot pink shade. I thought when we filled out the questionnaire, some of these products would be adjusted based on the info given. I’m not really much of a fan of pink lipstick because I have to do too much to make it work for my dark skin i.e. use a lip liner to change the color. I was able to do that with this using one of my lip liners but I probably doubt I will be troubling myself with this lipstick.
5. Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in Latergram
This was another lip product in this May 2016 Play! By Sephora box which I don’t think compliments by dark skin and it’s not as creamy as I like so won’t really be using this either.
6. Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine
One of the top best-selling points for me for this Play! By Sephora monthly subscription service is that each month you get a sample of a fragrance. I’m trying to add to my fragrance collection and this will be a great way to find what I like. Well I don’t like this. When they say orange, it really is mainly the smell of orange zest. You’ll get a little bit of the other notes in this but it’s mainly orange. I don’t really want to walk around smelling like an orange but I think it will make a great room fragrance or when I’m cleaning my house. Will not be wearing it.
So that’s what I got for $10 per month (plus tax) with free shipping. I wasn’t really impressed with this May 2016 Play! By Sephora box which is also my first as I could only see myself using the hair mask and the Origins samples. I do like the black and white box it comes in as well as the pouch which the samples are placed in.
The only other beauty box I bought this month was the May 2016 Target Beauty Box and in my opinion, it was better than this one from Sephora. I certainly used a lot more products in that box than this one from Sephora.
I will give this Play! By Sephora subscription service a few more months to see if I get more products that I like and can use before I decide whether to cancel or not.
